Today was my first official day in the new position at the desk job. I tried it out one day last week, but today is the first official day.
The new position certainly has its pros and cons. The pros have yet to reveal themselves in practice, which is unfortunate for me, since I’m living it, and for you, since you’re reading about it. I’m sure once I get into the swing of things, I’ll find a bit more time and desire to be productive and focused. For now, it’s tough.
It’s pretty isolated up here, but it’s also busy with lots of phone calls, delivery people and instant message requests from coworkers. The collection of these factors is not great motivation to do much at all – for the desk job or for my bliss.
So far? Being up here basically makes me want to eat chocolate in my pajamas and surf the web all day.
Like I said, I think I’ll get used to it, find my rhythm, learn which times of the day will be slow and which will be hectic. And yes, Mother, I’m doing what I’m supposed to be doing – with a smile – like a diligent worker bee. (I’m sorry you guys have to witness my regular disclaimers to the maternal figure. Mom, from here on out imagine that the following appears in parenthesis before every sentence I write: “After I cheerfully did all my work tasks to the very best of my ability…”)
If anything, perhaps this new position will encourage me to take even swifter action toward my exit. Maybe it will inspire me to put more money into savings each week, to work harder on my side projects, to become even more organized and proactive about this pursuit.
Because this is what I see when I look up from my new desk:

And that’s just not good enough.
parenthesis accepted and sorry about the wall
Lots of of people talk about this matter but you said really true words.
